FAQs

  • At the Margaret River Chiro, we see people with various conditions. Some of the common things we see are headaches, migraines, vertigo, neck pain, low back pain, disc injuries, knee pain, hip pain, shoulder pain, bursitis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and carpal tunnel. We focus on getting to the bottom of what’s going on and finding the root cause so that we can help people not just feel better in the short term but get back to the best version of themselves. With Dr Sam’s own personal journey as a Chiropractor and having scoliosis himself he has a real passion for helping people get the most out of their bodies and so will also see a lot of patients who are interested in injury prevention, posture and even things like improving balance.

  • To see a Chiropractor you don’t need a referral unless you are on a Chronic pain management program that is being run through Medicare or DVA.

  • Chiropractors specialise in restoring movement to the spine to improve our mechanics and reduce localised inflammation while also improving communication within the nervous system to help our body function with less interference and be able to better adapt to the stressors that life sends our way.

  • When we hear the ‘crack’ that can come from moving our spine in a particular way it is from gas that escapes from between joints called facet joints. This is often associated with an alteration in the biomechanics of the joint that was stretched. At Margaret River Chiro, we do a very detailed physical examination which includes a full functional neurological workup and detailed orthopaedic testing to find out if Chiropractic care is going to be suitable for every single patient. Part of that workup is figuring out exactly what treatment protocols will be appropriate and how to implement those particular treatments. When someone tries to self-adjust their spine, they will more often than not shift things in the wrong direction. While in the short-term this may improve movement in that location, it may lead to further issues and joint dysfunction in the future.

  • At Margaret River Chiro, we do detailed initial consultations to get to the bottom of what’s causing your problems and how long it has been there so we can craft tailored care plans specific to you and your problem. Everybody is unique which often means every problem we see tends to be unique and takes differing periods of time to correct.

  • Some changes seen with Chiropractic care can happen fairly quickly. Like with anything though good things take time so unravelling some of the more complex aspects of an injury can take longer to see results. We often see very positive reductions in acute inflammation within a few adjustments which helps improve movement and reduce stiffness. More complicated conditions which include nerve irritation or entrapment will take longer to see changes.

  • Dr Sam is what you would call a well travelled Chiropractor. On his many journeys he has studied a wide variety of techniques and often uses a mix of SOT, Thompson, Activator, ABC, Diversified, CBP and some applied kinesiology.

  • Our detailed initial consult is where we are able to determine if additional testing or imaging is required. It is common here at the Margaret River Chiro for us to refer off for X-rays if Dr Sam feels more information is required to make sure we can be as sure as possible we know exactly what is causing your problem and how long it has been there.

  • Dr Sam has done extensive training in a technique called SOT which is low force and very safe during pregnancy. During pregnancy, the body changes immensely so keeping the spine moving and the pelvis stable is incredibly valuable for both mother and baby. Dr Sam has a very cute and cheeky daughter who you will often see running around the practice getting her spine checked alongside Dr Sam’s wife.

  • Most private health funds in Australia will cover Chiropractic treatment. Depending on your health fund they may cover more of less treatment than others.
